OPERATION: An employee owned corporation organized in 1978. Operates 24 offices in the states of Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Arkansas,Georgia, Mississippi and Florida.
PRODUCTS: Industrial and Municipal Pumps and Material Handling Equipment as manufactured by some of the best known names in American Industry.
CUSTOMERS: Virtually all manufacturers of products including the following classifications: Paper, Chemical, Food, Textiles, Tobacco, Furniture, Shipbuilding and Repair, Contracting, Municipal, and Government.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology, or equivalent working experience, and be willing to locate anywhere in the Southeastern United States. prior sales experience in a similar or related field is a plus. Must be willing to enter a profession requiring limited travel.
DUTIES: After approxiamately 12 months of training in one of our branch offices, Sales engineers are given a territorial assignment. This will consist of the investigation of mechanical problems and recommendation of the proper machinery to provide a solution. Sales Engineers are allowed almost unlimited latitude for personal initiative and engineering imagination. Work is intensely interesting, never monotonous and approximates 60-80% “Application Engineering” and 20-40% commercial psychology and sales procedure.

Position: Application Engineer
Location: Lakeland, Florida
Operation: Hudson Pump & Equipment is a leading professional distribution company providing products & services to a variety of industries.
Products: Industrial and Municipal pumps, and Materials Handling Equipment as manufactured by some of the best known names in American Industry.
Customers: Virtually all manufacturers of the products including the following classifications: Paper, Chemical, Food, Textiles, Furniture, Shipbuilding, pharmaceutical, Municipal, and Government.
Qualifications of the Application Engineer include, but are not limited to:
* B.S. Engineering (ME preferred) or 3-5 years equivalent industry experience.
* Knowledge of centrifugal pumps, other fluid handling equipment & fabricated pumping systems
* Must be able to work independently to achieve targeted results
* Well organized & self-motivated
* Excellent interpersonal and effective communication skills
* Effective negotiating skills
* Project management experience and team work skills
* Proficient in Microsoft Office
Responsibilities of the Application Engineer include, but are not limited to:
* Provide customer service, sales & technical support to sales force & customers
* Promote & encourage “Profit Management” to ensure a profitable future for the company
* Understand & implement policy to achieve both customer & company goals
* Work closely with Sales, Fabrication & Vendors to facilitate the sales effort & meet customer requirements
* Aid in the design and development of equipment, systems, and redesign of existing systems
* Notify inside and outside staff of new products & processes as needed
* Facilitate prompt remedy of customer technical problems, complaints, and failures
* Maintain organization of order files, monitor in-house orders, assist sales and fabrication with project related questions
