POSITION SPECIFICS:

Tencarva Machinery Company represents Atlas Copco Industrial Compressors. Atlas Copco is the world leader in compressors and compressed air treatment equipment. We are expanding our focus on this market and looking for the right candidate to expand our footprint in the central and western Virginia territory

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Prospect, source and maintain customers in an assigned territory. Achieve or exceed sales goals by developing action plans and schedules to identify specific sales prospects, targets and markets. Manage and call on and sell compressors, and related equipment including aftermarket to customers within the assigned territory. Be able to access the customer’s needs and requirements and put together a quotation matching those needs. Follow up with customer’s developing a lasting beneficial relationship

REQUIREMENTS:

2-3 years of industrial sales experience, preferably in the compressed air industrial market and/or in the Virginia industrial market.

Must be self-directed and have excellent organizational, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.

Must be able to travel – with some overnights

PRODUCTS:  Industrial and Municipal Pumps, Compressed Air Systems and Material Handling Equipment as manufactured by some of the best known names in American Industry. 
 
CUSTOMERS:  Virtually all manufacturers of products including the following classifications:  Paper, Chemical, Food, Textiles, Tobacco, Furniture, Shipbuilding and Repair, Contracting, Municipal, and Government. 
 
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology, or equivalent working
 experience, and be willing to locate anywhere in the Southeastern United States. Must have prior sales experience in a similar or related field. Must be willing to enter a profession requiring limited travel. 
 
DUTIES:  After several months of training in one of our branch offices, Sales engineers are given a territorial assignment.  This will consist of the investigation of mechanical problems and recommendation of the proper machinery to provide a solution.  Sales Engineers are allowed almost unlimited latitude for personal initiative and engineering imagination.  Work is intensely interesting, never monotonous and approximates 60-80% “Application Engineering” and 20-40% commercial psychology and sales procedure.

OPERATION:  An employee owned corporation organized in 1978.  Operates 20 offices in the states of Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Arkansas, Maryland and Mississippi plus a subsidiary in Florida with three offices. 
 
PRODUCTS:   Industrial Pumps, Compressed Air Systems and Material Handling Equipment as manufactured by some of the best known names in American Industry. 
 
CUSTOMERS:  Virtually all manufacturers of products including the following classifications:  Paper, Chemical, Food, Textiles, Tobacco, Furniture, Shipbuilding and Repair, Contracting and Government. QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology and be willing to locate anywhere in the Southeastern United States.  Must be willing to enter a profession requiring limited travel. 
 
DUTIES:  After approximately 12 months of training in one of our branch offices, application engineers will be assigned to our Greensboro office. There they will assist the sales engineers from all of our offices on specific products lines by doing quotations and providing technical assistance.  This will consist of the investigation of mechanical problems and recommendation of the proper machinery to provide a solution.  After a suitable time in the Application Engineer Group and when an opportunity is available the Application Engineer may be offered an opportunity to become a Sales Engineer at one of our offices. Sales Engineers are allowed almost unlimited latitude for personal initiative and engineering imagination. Work is intensely interesting, never monotonous and approximates 60-80% “Application Engineering” and 20-40% commercial psychology and sales procedure.
